Theodor Zahn (1838 – 1933) was a German Protestant theologian and a biblical scholar at the University of Erlangen. He was distinguished for his eminent scholarship, especially in connection with the New Testament canon. He stood at the head of the conservative scholarship at his time.Upon request by his students Theodor Zahn collected sixteen sermons to cover the Church’s Year. The difference and the agreement between scientific lectures and sermons was important to understand for his students. The sermons in this book show intimate knowledge of the New Testament again and again by new light thrown on familiar texts, by insight in the exposition of difficult doctrines.Translated by C.S.
